Provide a little background info about yourself
I left home when I was 13, and later attended boarding school in Lake Forest, IL. I finally got a degree in Chinese Language and Literature at UW Madison.  I left the US in 1987 with no money and only student loan debt to go live with a family in Thailand, and then later Taiwan.  After failing to find long term gainful employment, I started a small business importing bicycle parts and accessories into Taiwan. I stayed in Taiwan for 23 years and grew my business, later expanding in China and Hong Kong. I also met my wife in Taiwan where my son was born.  In 2013 I decided to return to the US with my family and run my business remotely. I went back to school and got my MBA from the UW in 2015. I am now a partner in a non profit consulting company out of Milwaukee.

How long have you been affiliated with SBR?
I have been riding or swimming at SBR for 3 ½ years.

Why did you join SBR? Why have you stayed?
I joined SBR to lose weight and get in shape. This was my main motivator for joining a cycling class. I have stayed mostly due to the friendly environment.  Being around and training with triathletes was a great motivator to stay fit and also try to keep up a bit.

What is your favorite class, service, or event with SBR?
That depends which day you ask me this question on. I really enjoyed PBC riding outside in the summer with a small group. I also very much enjoyed morning swim when I wasn’t in the fast lane.

What sport do you primarily participate in?
I have swum most of my life. It was my main sport. I only started cycling 4 years ago. Slowly I got better and did full and half Ironman.

What is your favorite part about training with SBR?
My favorite part is the atmosphere. I also very much like the calm humble approach of Coach Bill towards all the athletes. Too many other places only focus on the star athletes.

What are your training and/or racing goals this year?
I might do a race or two in the Wisconsin Triathlon series. Mostly I want to lose more weight and not have sore legs.
