Provide a little background info about yourself.

I grew up in the Milwaukee area and moved to Madison in my twenties. I graduated from UW-Madison in 1981, and have been a practicing Physical Therapist since then. After taking over twenty years off from sports, I decided to make a comeback in 2011 and sign up for a triathlon. Before that I was a runner and played basketball. So not knowing anything about triathlon, I trained on my own and completed a sprint. Well the rest is history, I have now completed 2 IMWI, Escape From Alcatraz triathlon, multiple sprints and Olympic distance triathlons and running races. I am an older athlete who wants to keep going as long as I can.

How long have you been affiliated with SBR?

I started with SBR in February of 2015.

Why did you join SBR? Why have you stayed?

After trying some other team coaching, I was pretty sure I was going to just train on my own, but with some gentle nudging from a trainer in town a meeting was set up with Coach Bill and myself just to talk. Well I knew in 5 minutes, that I had found someone who I could work with. I enjoy the one on one coaching with Coach Bill and all the classes that are offered here during the winter and in the summer such as cycling, swimming, running, Every class is well planned out and coached. I never feel pressured and I can just be myself. I have had great success with Jessica for my bike fits, too!

What is your favorite class, service, or event with SBR?

There are too many to choose from, but I would say the one-on-one coaching with Coach Bill. The swimming program stands out as one of my favorite programs and The Winter Wonderland Indoor Triathlon, coming up in February.

What sport do you primarily participate in?

I participate in triathlons all distances. I am a runner at heart though.

What is your favorite part about training with SBR?

I like the consistency and the great communication I receive with the one-on-one coaching. I appreciate the attention to every detail and the progress I have been making in the short time since I started with SBR. The athletes here are so welcoming and it is just plain fun to be around SBR.

What are your training and/or racing goals this year?

I have 3 planned half Ironman races, including IM Wisconsin 70.3, Racine 70.3 , and Steelhead 70.3. I have multiple running races planned, cycling events, and swimming events too. My goals are to get faster at each one and be more competitive in my age group.

What is something interesting about yourself that people might not know?

Not many people know that I love to jump rope and that I performed at Summerfest doing a routine with a group of adults and that I can still do some of the tricks. You can ask me to show you anytime and I like to teach people the correct way to jump rope!!!
