Provide a little background info about yourself.
Katie - I’m originally from Georgia and I moved to Wisconsin 5 years ago for grad school and found a job and have been here ever since. I played basketball, softball and soccer growing up.
Tim - I moved here from California 7 years ago for a job. My background is more in team sports, playing baseball, football, lacrosse and wrestling at various times in high school and college.
How long have you been affiliated with SBR?
Katie - 3 years
Tim - almost 5 years now
Why did you join SBR? Why have you stayed?
Katie - I’ve wanted to get into triathlons and didn’t know how and Tim was part of SBR so I wanted to join him and the group.
Tim - I mainly joined for the indoor cycling group, but the coaches help out with all aspects of triathlon and they’re great to work with.
What is your favorite class, service, or event with SBR?
Katie - The cycling classes, both indoor and outdoor are great as I feel I have really improved my cycling and they are just fun! (Except erg mode….)
Tim - The cycling classes are great. The special events they put on for the winter, like the movie days are fantastic.
What sport do you primarily participate in?
Katie - Running, but more cycling now
Tim - Traditionally running, but I’m trying to get better in cycling
What is your favorite part about training with SBR?
Katie - The people. I’ve got to meet a lot of great people and made great friends who I chat with on a daily basis and find as a great source of encouragement as I make my way to Ironman.
Tim - I like the people as well, and the fact that we work on our own goals. There’s always stuff to do.
What are your training and/or racing goals this year?
Katie - Finish Ironman Wisconsin and get a corgi at the finish line.
Tim - None really. I’m here to support Katie for Ironman, though I’ll be doing the 70.3 and a few half marathons as well.
What is something interesting about yourself that people might not know?
Katie - I’m always laughing so my nickname is Giggles.
Tim - I’m always down for a good game of trivia. When I lived in California, I got myself on to 5 game shows. Still haven’t made it to Jeopardy though.
