Provide a little background info about yourself
I’m originally from Chicago and did my first triathlon in 2012 after connecting with a paratriathlon club in Chicago called Dare2tri. Since then, I started competing internationally with the USA Paratriathlon team in 2014. I compete in the wheelchair division, so I use a handcycle for the bike segment and racing wheelchair for the run segment of a triathlon.
How long have you been affiliated with SBR?
I’ve been training with SBR ever since I moved to Madison about 2.5 years ago.
Why did you join SBR? Why have you stayed?
When I moved to Madison I was looking for a group that offered Computrainer classes and loved that SBR also had training opportunities in the pool and open water. I’ve stayed because the coaches at SBR really care about all of the athletes and always make sure the workouts are challenging and informational.
What is your favorite class, service, or event with SBR?
I love the open water classes with SBR. Each class has a specific purpose and well thought out workout, which I think is unique for open water swimming.
What sport do you primarily participate in?
Triathlon, but I started competing in cross country skiing this past year.
What is your favorite part about training with SBR?
I love the community that I’ve met through SBR.
What are your training and/or racing goals this year?
I’m trying to qualify for the 2018 Paralympic team for Nordic skiing, so that is my main focus this year. Hopefully, I’ll still do a few triathlons this summer.
What is something interesting about yourself that people might not know?
I am currently the Triathlon World Champion in my division, PT-1.
