Bill has been a lifelong athlete, starting to swim at the age of 11. He competed in cross country, swimming, and track in high school. His passion for sport led him to triathlon as he joined the UW Triathlon Team. Since then, Bill has completed over 100 triathlons at all distances, including Ironman Wisconsin. He has received recognition as a 2-time Honorable Mention All-American, a 7-time All-American, and a member of Team USA for three years. He earned his pro card in 2013 and competed in that field for three years.
Bill’s passion for endurance sports led him to earn his B.S. in Kinesiology–Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is able to apply his extensive experiential knowledge with his athletes as well.
Bill has experience working with athletes of all ages and backgrounds. He is a USAT Level I coach and also the Head Coach for the UW Triathlon Team. Bill’s education in exercise science, combined with his experience as a pro triathlete, has allowed his athletes to achieve their own personal success:
Novice athletes have gone on to achieve their goals of completing their first sprint, Olympic, and Ironman-distance races.
Age Group athletes have qualified for Nationals, 70.3 Worlds, Kona, and ITU Age Group Worlds.
The UW Triathlon Team has been consistently finishing in the top three teams from the Midwest and top 20 nationally.
Bill has also coached a Junior National Team member and a professional triathlete.
